If you want to try an awesome DIY veggie burger, you are definitely in for a treat. So simple, so easy, they definitely hit the spot. They’re delicious on burgers, salads, and pack a lot of flavor! When I make this recipe I make a huge batch of it and seal them in the freezer for easy use later.
For 4 servings, you will need:
- 1 Can Black Beans (drained)
- 1/3 c. Sweet Onion (chopped)
- 1 Tb. Fresh Garlic (minced)
- 1 Large Carrot (grated)
- 1/4 c. Green Bell Pepper (minced)
- 1 Tb. Cornstarch
- 1 Tb. Warm Water
- 3 Tb. Sriracha (to taste)
- 1 ts. Chili Powder
- 1 ts. Ground Cumin
- 1 ts. Seafood Seasoning (optional)
- 1/4 ts. Sea Salt
- 1/4 ts. Ground Black Pepper
- 2 Slices of Wheat Bread (crumbled)
- 3/4 c. Unbleached Flour
Preheat the oven to 350° F. Have a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Mash the black beans in a bowl and add the onion + garlic + carrots + bell pepper. Mix well. In a separate small bowl, whisk the cornstarch + water + sriracha + chili powder + cumin + seafood seasoning + salt + pepper. Add to the black bean mixture.
Mix the bread crumbles into the bean mixture and stir well, adding the flour 1/4 cup at a time, until a sticky batter forms.
Add spoonfuls of batter onto the baking sheet lined with parchment, and form 3/4 inch thick patties. Bake for 10 minutes on each side.
Now it’s ready to serve! These black bean burgers are the best! Enjoy 🙂
